Accessibility Statement

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 at Level AA on clothgoblin.com, and to follow the accessibility conventions of each platform in our iOS and Android apps.

Cloth Goblin is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means some parts of the product do not yet meet the standard. We have not had an independent accessibility audit, so this reflects our own testing rather than certification by a third party.

• You can find stores without touching the map, by searching or by browsing the lists on Discover, Featured, and your Favorites.
• Store pages, filters, and account settings can be reached by keyboard.
• Buttons and controls carry text labels rather than relying on icon shape alone.
• Text uses real text rather than pictures of text, so it responds to your browser or system font size.
• On iPhone and iPad the app works with VoiceOver and respects Dynamic Type. On Android it works with TalkBack and system font scaling.
• Nothing plays audio automatically, and there is no flashing content.

We would rather name these than pretend they are solved.

• The map. An interactive map with draggable pins is genuinely hard to use with a screen reader or by keyboard alone, and ours is not fully usable that way. If the map is a barrier, everything on it can be reached another way. Use the search field or the Discover list, both of which return the same stores as text you can read and select.
• Photos from stores and the community. Many store photos come from Google or from people who suggest listings, and they arrive without useful alt text. We label what we can and are working on requiring descriptions for new submissions.
• Embedded content we do not control. The map is provided by Google, payments run through Stripe or the Apple and Google app stores, and some store pages embed Instagram posts. We cannot guarantee the accessibility of code we did not write.
• Color and contrast. Some map pin colors and small labels may not meet the AA contrast threshold in every combination. Pin color is never the only way to tell what a store is, since the same information appears as text on the store page.
• No independent audit. We have not been tested against the full set of WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria by an outside specialist.

We aim to reply within three business days. It helps enormously if you tell us what you were trying to do, which page or screen you were on, and what device and assistive technology you were using, since that is usually what lets us reproduce the problem.

Accessibility problems get treated as bugs rather than suggestions. If you report one that blocks you from using a core feature, we will prioritize it accordingly.

Accessibility is ongoing rather than finished. We review this statement when the product changes materially and at least once a year, and we update the list above as problems are found and fixed. Because Cloth Goblin ships frequently, some of what is listed as broken today may already be better by the time you read it.
